The Bugsnax Bigsnax DLC was revealed during the October 27 State of Play and promised a whole new area with giant snackified creatures. It wasn’t given a solid release date, but Young Horses did say it would be free. And now only does it have a release date, it is also coming out alongside the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch on April 28 for $24.99 with a 20% launch discount. It will also launch on Xbox Game Pass on PC, console, and through the cloud.

Young Horses spoke about this information in a new trailer. The island will contain around three to four hours of new content on a separate island with a bunch of new creatures both big and small. Anyone who has done all of Snorpy’s missions can play the DLC and those who have beaten the game can continue from before the point of no return. And because of a campaign started by Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, the DLC will have its own set of trophies and achievements.

The update will also impact the main game. Players can customize their hut in Snaxburg as they complete challenges to earn cosmetics for it. After transforming the Grumpuses with Bugsnax, some of the Bugsnax in the game will have hats. Capturing these special critters will give users the ability to put said hats on the Bugsnax in Gramble’s barn in Snaxburg. While left mysterious, the patch will also have gameplay improvements, tiny story beats, and surprises.

The game is also receiving a $39 physical version on the Switch through Fangamer. It comes with sticker, a field guide, and more. The game already has a physical edition for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but it appears as though Xbox and PC owners will be only be able to buy the game digitally.
