A potential Destiny movie could be in the works, as Bungie has hired a former Warner Bros. Discovery executive to head up expansion efforts into other mediums.

Will there be a Destiny movie?

Recently, Gabriel VanHuss took to LinkedIn (via TheGamePost) to announce he had been hired by Bungie to serve as the new Head of Linear Media for the Destiny IP. VanHuss also hinted at a future Destiny movie in his post.

In this role, VanHuss said, he’ll work with the Destiny Universe Leadership team to “create strategy and execute the operations for expansion of Destiny into new media, including TV, films, books, comics, and audio formats.”

“This new position will work with the Destiny Universe Leadership team to create strategy and execute the operations for expansion of Destiny into new media, including TV, films, books, comics, and audio formats,” said VanHuss on his post. “Destiny has a universe worth of stories waiting to be told, and I look forward to connecting best-in-class partners to our amazing creative team to bring them to life for current and new fans.”

VanHuss went on to praise the work Bungie has done on the Destiny story, saying the property has “a universe worth of stories to be told.”

Destiny began in 2014, when developer Bungie first released the online FPS. Since then, the game has gone through a ton of changes, as well as spawned a sequel, Destiny 2, which released in 2017. As of now Destiny 2 has received seven expansions, with its latest, Lightfall, released in February.
