It’s no secret that Hayden Christensen is set to return as Darth Vader in the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, but in a recent interview, the actor shared his feelings on putting back on the suit for the first time in nearly 20 years.

“Putting the Vader costume back on was incredible,” Christensen said in a recent interview with AP Entertainment. “It comes with such a presence, you know? You put it on, and it just informs so much the way you feel. And for me, it was very sort of cathartic in a way, too, just because this is a character that has meant a lot to me, and has sort of stayed with me over the years, and getting to come back and continue with it was an emotional experience.”

He elaborated in an earlier interview from April, saying that “getting to explore the mindset and the emotional state of Darth Vader” was “a lot of fun.” He also said he was excited to be back in the role in said interview and even seemed to tease that his time as Darth Vader will not conclude with this upcoming Disney+ series.

“The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader,” reads the official synopsis.

Joining the returning Star Wars alums are franchise newcomers Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Sung Kang (F9: The Fast Saga), Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (The French Dispatch), Simone Kessell (Of Kings and Prophets), Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems) and Maya Erskine (PEN15).
