Originally announced to be in development back in February of 2021, the series has now received an official series order and is rumored to be 10 episodes in length. It will follow Frasier’s “next chapter in a different city,” where he will be accompanied by new characters. Reportedly, Frasier characters are not expected to appear regularly in the series, instead occasionally appearing in guest roles. Chris Harris (How I met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces) are set to write the sequel series after previously running a Twitter account that theorized scenes and dialogue from a hypothetical Frasier continuation.

Frasier originally ran from 1993 to 2004, originating as a spin-off of the hit series Cheers focused around Kelsey Grammer’s character, Dr. Frasier Crane. The spin-off starred Kelsey Grammer, Jane Leeves, David Hyde Pierce, Peri Gilpin, John Mahoney, and Dan Butler. The show and its cast won 37 Primetime Emmy Awards.

“Frasier Crane, a successful Boston therapist, moves to Seattle to get a new start on life,” reads the original series’ synopsis. “He has a radio talk show, which he uses to relay his wit and wisdom to others, but at times he struggles with his own problems with his salt-of-the-earth father, his pretentious brother, and his friends and co-workers.”
