Speaking to People Magazine, Saldaña said that after seeing footage of the upcoming sequel, she was brought to tears. “I can get choked up just talking about it,” Saldaña said. “I was able to see just 20 minutes of the second installment, right before the year ended, last year, and I was speechless. I was moved to tears.”

Later in the interview, Saldaña noted that part of the reason for the emotion was finally seeing the underwater worlds of Pandora, which was a big challenge for James Cameron and the team behind the film, and reportedly, a big reason as to why the film has been delayed so many times.

“Jim was finally able to crack that challenge — that whole thing that you can’t imitate water, virtually, through performance capture,” stated Saldaña. “That was just a challenge that he had taken upon himself, and it took him years, and he did it. He did it. It’s powerful, it’s compelling.”
