Everything But the Girl, the downtempo pop and trip-hop duo of Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn, have announced their first new album in 24 years. It’s titled Fuse and it’s due out April 21 via Buzzin’ Fly. The lead single, “Nothing Left to Lose,” arrives with a video directed by Charlie Di Placido. Check it out below.

Fuse follows 1999’s Temperamental. The duo started writing the new LP back in March 2021 and recorded it in secret, both at home and in a small studio outside Bath, England, with engineer Bruno Ellingham. “We were aware of the pressures of such a long-awaited comeback, so we tried to begin instead in a spirit of open-minded playfulness, uncertain of the direction, receptive to invention,” Thorn said in a statement.

Everything But the Girl came to an end in 1999. Thorn and Watt, who are married, occasionally worked together while Thorn released a string of solo records and Watt ran his record label, Strange Feeling. Thorn has also released four memoirs since Temperamental; the latest, 2021’s My Rock ’n’ Roll Friend, was partly about her friendship with Lindy Morrison of the Go-Betweens.
