We are chatting with Anika today! Super excited to chat with you! You have a new single out “Make Me Wanna” We are obsessed. How have fans reacted to the song?
Thank you so much for talking with me! I am so happy that you like Make Me Wanna! The reaction to the song so far has been really positive! It gained 10,000 streams a little over two weeks after release, and it is still on the climb which is so exciting! If fans like this song, I cannot wait for people to hear what I have coming up next!
We really dig how fun this song is and your vocals are incredible. Why did you choose to go with this release as the next one?
I chose Make Me Wanna as my second release because my first release, Are You Down, was more on the chill side. I wanted to show that I can create something more upbeat and fun as well, while still feeling like I’m authentically representing myself as an artist!
What has been your favorite song released the last 2 years? The one that is on repeat for you?
The first time I heard, “Leave the Door Open” by Silk Sonic, I was swept off of my feet. I would seriously pay money to hear that song again for the first time! Silk Sonic has been a true inspiration to me, musically, and the way they took risks and it paid off is so exciting for the industry in general. They are so effortless, yet calculated with their style, swag, and vocals, and it comes through in every song!
You are ALWAYS slaying with amazing makeup looks. Have you always been into makeup or is it something you picked up as you got a little older? Where do you find inspiration
Honestly I have struggled a lot with acne in my life, and it really began to pick up in high school. That is initially why I started doing makeup, to cover that up, but it really turned into an art form. I learned all of the basics from watching YouTube make up tutorial videos, and I still watch many makeup videos and TikTok’s today. Makeup is such a unique way to express yourself, and whether you are learning because you have a skin struggle, or just have a genuine interest, I think it has really become a community and common ground for so many people to share their talents, recommendations, and personality.
Do you plan to release a video for Make Me Wanna?
Yes! I plan on shooting a music video for Make Me Wanna! I will be working with the extremely talented Diane Foster on this video, and I could not be more excited! It will be on a whole other level compared to the video for Are You Down, and you should keep your eyes out for it sometime next month!!
