Ezra Miller to begin treatment for “complex mental health issues”

Following a string of arrests and concern over their well-being, Ezra Miller has announced that they “have begun ongoing treatment” to address “complex mental health issues.”

In a statement released on Monday evening, Miller — who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns — acknowledged that they had “recently gone through a time of intense crisis.”

Miller went on to apologize to “everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior,” and said they were “committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

Since March of this year, Miller has been arrested three times. During a month stretch in Hawaii in the spring, Miller was charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree assault. And earlier this month, Miller was arrested and charged with felony burglary after allegedly stealing several bottles of alcohol from an unoccupied residence. You can find a complete summary of his various legal troubles here.

Miller has also been accused of grooming underage children and wearing body armor and carrying a gun at all times. Some of the actor’s alleged sexual partners have compared them to a cult leader.

As the negative headlines piled up, recent reports suggested that Warner Bros. Discovery was weighing its options on what to do with The Flash, its upcoming superhero blockbuster starring Miller in the titular role. Under one scenario, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Miller would undergo treatment and then participate in limited press leading up to the film’s release next summer. If Miller’s behavior doesn’t improve, Warner Bros. Discovery could consider omitting Miller from the The Flash‘s marketing altogether, or, in a worst case scenario, shelve the film’s release.
