No Doubt Bassist Legally Battling Stalker Who Claims Heath Ledger

No Doubt and DREAMCAR bassist Tony Kanal last week (April 1) reportedly obtained a restraining order against an alleged stalker who’s said to have repeatedly intruded on the musician’s home in Los Angeles.

The stalker claimed that Heath Ledger was still alive inside the house, according to TMZ.

Ledger, the actor who died in 2008, previously owned the property where the intrusions purportedly occurred. Kanal, a member of No Doubt since 1987 who’s performed on all of the Gwen Stefani-led band’s albums, purchased the house in L.A.’s Los Feliz district for around $2.8 million in 2005, three years before Ledger’s death, per an article from Berg Properties.

The stalker reportedly asserted that they used to live in the home with Ledger. They also hopped an entry gate to access the property and were “wielding a large stick and a knife” on at least one occasion they terrorized Kanal and his family, according to legal documents obtained by the celebrity tabloid website.

After a judge reportedly signed the restraining order on Friday, the stalker must stay 100 yards from the family and the home until a hearing later this month.

The story seems likely a cautionary mental health tale. At one point, per TMZ, the stalker asked to be let into Kanal’s garage so they could “wake” Ledger. They purportedly threatened the family by saying, if “you know what is good for you, you will let me in.”

No Doubt last released an album with 2012’s Push and Shove. Since, Kanal’s kept busy writing and producing for others as well as playing in the new-wave supergroup DREAMCAR with AFI’s Davey Havok. DREAMCAR issued their self-titled debut in 2017.
