Wet Leg brought their song “Chaise Lounge” to the stage at the 2023 BRIT Awards on Saturday, where they were up for several awards in connection to their breakout debut album. For the performance, Wet Leg stood among a sea of plants while dancers dressed in cottagecore outfits and animal costumes paraded around them. Watch it happen below.
Shortly after their set, Wet Leg won the 2023 BRIT Awards for Best New Artist and Group of the Year. During their acceptance speech for Best New Artist, they recited Alex Turner’s famous acceptance speech from when Arctic Monkeys won the Album of the Year award back in 2014. “That rock’n’roll. That rock’n’roll, hey? It just won’t go away,” singer Rhian Teasdale said through laughs before continuing the throwback reference.
Wet Leg earned several other BRIT Awards nominations this year: Mastercard Album of the Year and Best Alternative/Rock Act. At the Grammys on February 5, they won the Best Alternative Music Album trophy for Wet Leg, and Best Alternative Music Performance for “Chaise Longue.” They were also nominated for Best New Artist, an honor that ultimately went to Samara Joy.
