A fashionable lesson on how to make the sidewalk your own personal runway.

I think I speak for all of us Canadians who are currently bundled up in warm winter-proof layers when I say it would be a — the? — dream to saunter down the streets of Paris enveloped by the magic of couture week. Every year, it’s those very streets where you’ll find the best off-runway style inspiration (I mean, we love a hunchback moment, but I wouldn’t exactly wear Nosferatu-style ear-high shoulder pads to Sunday brunch). Outside the city’s venues, guests, models and fashion’s top brass served some seriously creative street style for Spring 2022 couture week.

Forget your model-off-duty neutrals and say hello to colourful monochromatic moments, patterns reminiscent of the 1960s, ‘70s and Y2K, shearling accents, and accessories like balaclavas, mini purses and statement jewellery (See our Spring/Summer 2022 trend reports for fashion, hair and beauty).

And it wouldn’t be couture week in the city of love without a little Emily in Paris moment. Camille Razat was spotted outside the Fendi couture show in…Fendi, obviously. Meanwhile, American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour kept it light in a long white wool coat and rusty brown scarf.

Rest assured that whether it’s outside the Grand Palais or the AGO, the concrete (or cobblestones) beneath your feet can be your own personal runway. Click through the gallery below to see some of our favourite street style looks from Spring/Summer couture week 2022.
