During Thursday’s episode, Muir was in the middle of his news coverage before halting in order to share an update on health care premiums. Speaking with viewers, Mur shared, “At the White House tonight, President Trump acknowledging health care premiums are about to skyrocket for more than 20 million Americans.”

Muir continued, “The President was pressed, where is the plan from the White House or Congress before they go home for the holidays. And there’s news tonight. The White House now says the famed Kennedy Center has been renamed the Trump Kennedy Center.” He then handed things over to his colleague, Mary Bruce, who was reporting from the White House.

Mary started her coverage, sharing, “Tonight, President Trump making it clear he does not want to extend the expiring Affordable Care Act subsidies, which means in just two weeks, insurance premiums for millions of Americans will soar. More than 20 million Americans are now bracing for their premiums to skyrocket.”

“The President claims he somehow wants to bypass insurance companies to pay people directly, but he hasn’t explained how or what this would mean for Americans’ healthcare, and he has not released a health care plan of his own.

Bruce continued, “During the campaign, he said he was working on one.” A clip was also shared of Trump saying, “I have concepts of a plan. I’m not President right now,” during his campaign.

Commenters Also Shared Their Reactions To The Update On Social Media

In another breaking news story, it was announced that the board of the Kennedy Center voted to rename the center the Trump Kennedy Center. Speaking with David, Mary shared, “But David, legal experts we’ve talked to say the board can’t actually make this name change.”

“That it requires an act of Congress. But take a look at this on the website tonight. There’s that new name, anyway, the Trump Kennedy Center.”

A clip of this episode of ABC World News Tonight was also shared on the show’s Instagram page. Thanks to this, commenters were sharing their reactions on social media. Some comments included:

    • “Someone needs to ask him so how are those ‘concepts of a plan’ coming along?”
    • “He, along with his cabinet, ALL members of congress should now have to buy their own health insurance!”
    • “Democrats are the problem, they just need to get out the way and let Trump cook.”
    • “As a reminder: The Kennedy Center is a MEMORIAL. It is not only an arts center, but the sole JFK memorial passed by Congress and signed into federal LAW by President Johnson.”
    • “Don’t worry, Dr. Oz has some ‘concepts.’”
    • “Well, I am 70 and live off ss my husband and I pay almost 900 per month for Medicare, secondary and drug coverage. So , not sure how much more we can pay. But to say Trump is to blame? Well this has gone on for 5 years.”
    • “This is so sickening… all of it.”
    • “Honestly, it’s perfect. Let it soar. Let it happen.”
