Off-White c/o Church’s presents designs by Virgil Abloh

When the world of fashion loses a great figure, any new discoveries of their ingenuity are as good as gold. And it seems that the late Virgil Abloh left a lot of special projects behind. This week, Abloh’s luxury streetwear brand Off-White announced the arrival of a footwear collection in care of Church’s, designed by Abloh himself. The genderless capsule collection made its debut at Paris Fashion Week last month and showcases Abloh’s affinity for reinterpreting classic designs with new references. And Church’s storied oxfords served as just the right base.

Valentino takes over Toronto’s Type Books

When one thinks of Valentino, the first thing that comes to mind isn’t necessarily books. However, the luxury designer wants to change that with Valentino Collezione Milano: The Narratives. As part of the campaign, they will be taking over the store windows of various independent bookstores across North America, including Toronto’s own Type Books. The display includes Derek McCormack’s most recent read, “Judy Blame’s Obituary: Writings on Fashion and Death.” A must-read and must-visit, to be sure!

    Lululemon becomes a head-to-toe solution

This week, Lululemon introduced its debut running shoe. Dubbed Blissfeel, the runners are available in 10 colours and are engineered with energy-filled underfoot foam cushioning, and an upper that sanctions movement. Keep a lookout because three more women’s styles are set to drop this year: cross-training kicks, elevated slides and a supportive training shoe.

Swatch and Omega forge an unlikely partnership

Omega and Swatch have joined forces, and they’re taking you to space with MoonSwatch. It’s an innovative take on Omega’s Speedmaster Moonwatch, bringing the Bioceramic timepiece to a new level with provocative colours that haven’t been featured on traditional Omega Speedmaster watches. Mimicking the sun, moon and 9 planets (Pluto, you made it!) of the solar system, this luxury/street brand blend surely classifies as a must-have for your watch collection.

Lisa and Kaia Gerber debut Celine’s new classic bag on social media

Celine’s two besties Lisa and Kaia Gerber have got the inside scoop on this season’s It bag. Debuting the Matelassé Monochrome Celine, the newest bag from the French fashion house’s Winter 2022 collection, the musician and model both shared their first public outing with the purse to Instagram earlier this week.

Maguire sets up shop in NYC

Montreal-based, women-led footwear brand Maguire has announced that it will be opening its first international boutique this May. Set within New York City’s upscale Nolita neighbourhood, which is known to have housed some big-brand designers in the past, this new locale is a grand step for the five-year-old independent retailer. And the 1,000 square foot shop will be just steps away from Mejuri’s NYC flagship. It’s perfect proof that Canadian-born brands thrive on the international stage.

    Sentaler launches city-inspired capsule collections

Kicking off its Fall 2022 Around the World collection, Canadian outerwear brand Sentaler is taking a trip to the United Arab Emirates. Available now, the “See Now, Dubai Now” capsule is one installment in a series of city-inspired drops that the brand will be continually unveiling. Complete with seven pieces — a mix of limited-edition and pre-order styles — the rich and earthy desert colour palette is easily the focal point here. Follow the brand’s subsequent drops to see where the Sentaler woman is off to next.
