Big Brother Season 28’s Second Eviction Sends a Huge Target Packing

By Big Brother standards, Big Brother Season 28 has been the most dramatic season in years.

The producers’ decision to include three reality TV veterans in the cast has forced the 14 newbies to adapt to the high intensity of their gameplay.

If anything, it highlights the importance of bringing in people who are more accustomed to having cameras on them 24/7.

Going into Thursday’s second eviction of the season, there were a lot of things up in the air.

With Rick Devens as Head of Household, it was inevitable that things would play out very differently from the way Dee Valladares handled her week in power.

Rick nominating Jason, Lyric, and Melody for eviction was his way of drawing a line in the sand. I appreciate that Rick noted he would rather go big than not play the game.

We need more players like that, but I can’t deny that the decisions he made after winning the Power of Veto on Saturday have left me conflicted about his gameplay.

The best move to get Rome out would have been to put him on the block alongside Lyric so they couldn’t vote to save one another.

But Rick settled on removing Lyric from the block, which was surprising because the damage to their relationship had already been done, particularly because he was replacing her with Rome.

Big Brother Season 28 Has Been Filled With Drama

The best move would have been to save Melody because Rick could then have cut a deal with her. She’s far less dangerous than the other two nominees.

I just can’t fathom why Rick thought it was a good idea to save Lyric, but hey, it was unpredictable.

And I firmly believe it could come back to bite him in the next few weeks.

Rick may seem protected by the Toolshed alliance, but he could easily become the alliance’s fall guy if he continues making bold decisions that put a target on his back.

Being a target in the Big Brother house is never a good thing, and his gamer mentality is shaking up the house in all the wrong ways.

With Jason, Rome, and Melody on the block during the eviction, there were several scenarios that could have played out.

If Rome won the Big Brother Blockbuster on Thursday, Rick’s plan would blow up, leaving Jason and Melody on the block to face the vote.

If that happened, the rest of the house would vote out Jason. There was no question about that.

    Another Houseguest Leaves the Game

If Melody won, Rome would go home.

If Jason won, you get the picture. Rome would go home.

The only person truly safe from every scenario was Melody.

During the telecast, Jason won the Big Brother Blockbuster, leaving Melody and Rome on the block to face the vote.

Rome was evicted by a vote of 12 -1.

So, there we have it. Another player has been voted out of the Big Brother house, and we have a new Head of Household competition coming up.

There’s also the Big Brother Time Capsule in play, so someone unexpected could shake up the game.
