Years of rumours and fan desires have been answered at last. Konami’s classic Silent Hill 2 is getting remade, courtesy of Bloober Team. Not only that, but we have several new entries in the series, as well as a new film by Christophe Gans!

Announced today during the Silent Hill Transmission, Konami will be bringing the remake of Silent Hill 2 to PC via Steam and PlayStation 5 first, with Xbox versions arriving later. Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka are back to help development, and the game will offer an over-the-shoulder camera view this time around. And yes, Akira Yamaoka is back once again to score the remake! There’s no release date as of yet, but you can wishlist it now on the PlayStation Store (and Steam).

Along with the remake, Konami also announced a new entry in Silent Hill: Townfall, which is being worked on by Annapurna Interactive and No Code Games. The trailer doesn’t reveal many details, but expect those soon.

That’s not all for new games. Silent Hill: Ascension was also announced, and is being worked on by Behaviour Interactive, Bad Robot Games, Genvid and DJ2 Entertainment, with the game going live in 2023. The new game is described as “live, real-time interactive series” where millions of fans will watch together and interact as the story unfolds. Players will be able to change the outcome of the story, and even be part of the scenes. “Genvid’s experience presents a wild, epic and innovative new way to immerse yourself in the horrors of Silent Hill,” says J.J. Abrams. You can head over to Ascension.com to sign up for updates.

Lastly, Silent Hill f was also announced with a new trailer. Developed by Neobards Entertainment and with a story by Ryukishi07, there’s again not much to go on as of yet. However, the game will be set in 1960s Japan, and the teaser trailer features an abandoned Japanese village that just oozes creepiness.

Finally, Christophe Gans has revealed his new film, Return to Silent Hill, which appears to adapt the story of Silent Hill 2. According to Gans, the film will focus on psychological horror, even though all the same creatures and memorable sequences from the game will be present. And yes, Pyramid Head will be back.

Konami of course took the opportunity to show off more video game goodies for fans looking to show off their love for the series. We’re shown 1/6 scale statues by Gecco of James, Maria and even the Inu-End dog from the Dog Ending gets a coin bank statue from Silent Hill 2. More statues are expected soon.

Yeah, this was worth the wait.
