Reformation has partnered with Canada Goose to dream up whimsical and sustainable outerwear. In a seven-piece collection, parkas, vests and reversible puffers are resplendent with vintage-inspired prints, adding a certain joy to the dreary winter weather. What’s more, they’ve been intentionally designed for a circular life and feature a unique interior label that reads “Loved By,” so the name of each owner can be documented.

Fashion is getting a cinematic spotlight this month. At TIFF’s Make it Fashion series — a festival showcasing 14 films centred on fashion’s most lauded houses and designers of the last century — relish in the spectacle of Audrey Hepburn’s on-screen Givenchy moments and Manolo Blahnik’s hand in Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette. Catch the sartorial screenings, curated by Alicia Fletcher, at the TIFF Bell Lightbox from December 2 to December 30.

Ski season is upon us and Michael Kors has tapped luxe Italian sportswear brand Ellesse to dream up the most chic winter sport apparel on the market (for a second time). The collection offers a vivid take on ski resort style that’s cool enough for the slopes *or* the city streets.

Toronto Metropolitan University upcycles old Ryerson and Rams-branded materials

When Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) finally received its new name last spring, you might have had a few follow-up questions, such as: what would happen to all of the memorabilia in the world labelled with the institution’s former name? An initiative called the Branded Materials Transition Project has actually been collecting these branded items from landfills — think apparel, varsity athletics jerseys, signage, stationary and uniforms — with the intention of turning the 11,000 kg of waste into sustainably repurposed items. The preliminary results were showcased this week at a runway show where 27 one-of-a-kind fashion pieces embodied the art of transformation.

Until December 24, vehicles like the Concept Mercedes-Maybach Haute Voiture can be marvelled at alongside custom designer gowns by Narces, Charles Lu and CAFA 2022 Womenswear Designer of the Year honouree Lecavalier. Additionally, a featured concept shop spotlights Canadian labels like Sentaler and Alan Anderson, with a selection of outerwear, jewellery, handbags and accessories available for purchase. It’s a total sensory exhibition brimmed with luxury and local talent.
