Embrace fall’s biggest colour trend with these crimson extras. Shall we call it “tomato soup girl dressing”?

If you only subscribe to one fall 2023 trend (but really, what’s the fun in that!), let it be red accessories. Trust us — they’re everywhere! And like most cool things, Rihanna is at the centre of it.

The hot hue first returned at RiRi’s concert in February 2023 (otherwise known as the Super Bowl). A month later, models did their best “girl on fire” impressions at Valentino, Gucci and Ferragamo. And most recently, Hailey Bieber channelled her inner strawberry, wearing novelty earrings, a mini-dress and matching heels to promote her latest Rhode launch.

And because FASHION doesn’t believe in gatekeeping, we’ll let you in on a little secret: the key to rocking red accessories is to combine them with a quiet luxury mentality. While, in theory, the Succession-inspired trend and the attention-seeking colour seem to be at odds, that’s what makes this fall’s approach so interesting. Take these Bottega Veneta boots paired with this casual co-ord (above). They appear knitted with yarn but the shoes are actually made from fine leather, making them much more durable.

Whether you want to follow in RiRi’s footsteps or simply update your wardrobe with 2023 trends, here are some red accessories we are coveting this fall.

    Reformation mini bag

Sure, you might not be able to fit more than a phone in this cute purse but what it lacks in size it makes up for in style. The hint is in the name — the Mini Chiara Convertible Bag. With some simple twisting, the piece can turn into a geometric clutch.

Can Carrie Bradshaw do any wrong? Well, that topic is hotly debated (see: all her relationships) but we can all agree that she did wonders for the rosette. Swap a brooch for a choker for a more modern take on the Sex and the City essential.

    Van Cleef & Arpels necklace

    red trend 2023

Does it get more timeless than a red Alhambra pendant from Van Cleef & Arpels? The iconic motif has been a staple of the jeweller’s since 1968 and shows no signs of stopping. Pair it with chunky gold chains to give it a 2023 twist.

Add some patent leather to your daily ensemble with this leather shoulder bag from Mango. Feminine, with a bit of edge, and cherry tomato red is a sure-fire combination (see what we did there).
