All eight episodes of the series arrive to Prime Video on February 2
Mr. and Mrs. Smith are back and ready for their next mission. In the first official trailer for the Prime Video series, which stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, the two strangers are tasked with building a quiet life at home while also completing chaotic, fiery jobs for the nondescript spy agency they both work for.
It could be argued that plenty of people live a double life, lying to their neighbors and pretty much everyone else they know without spilling too many details that could catch them in a lie-filled web of their own creation. And who better than do so than a pair of spies? Well, for John and Jane Smith, it seems easier said than done.
“We’re computer software engineers,” Glover’s John stumbles out with an edge of uncertainty while attempting to explain their life to a couples therapist. It wasn’t a question they had prepared for. When they did a crash course on each other while seated at a restaurant, Erskine’s Jane was more curious in asking about whether her now-husband had ever killed anymore. “No, no,” he answered. “Not really.”
The series adaptation of the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith was created by showrunner Francesca Sloane alongside Glover. All eight episodes arrive to Prime Video on Feb. 2. Its arrival was originally delayed after Phoebe Waller-Bridge stepped down as co-writer and star due to creative differences.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith features appearances from Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza González, Sarah Paulson, Sharon Horgan, Ron Perlman, Billy Campbell, Úrsula Corberó, Paul Dano, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, Parker Posey, and Wagner Moura.
