At least one did work in another generation. Luke Combs makes this list of the year’s best country songs with a cover of “Fast Car,” Tracy Chapman’s hit from 1988. Fans demanded radio airplay for the song, and they’ve supported it in its rise to the top of the charts.
Several artists make the list twice, including Combs and Jelly Roll. Newcomer Megan Moroney has two songs, as do rising star Jordan Davis and staple Kane Brown. Fans of traditional country music will be happy to see Cody Johnson near the top, and Tim McGraw‘s addition is sure to make longtime fans smile.
