BTS’ RM Searches for Meaning on Single ‘Come Back To Me’

BTS member RM has dropped a new single, “Come Back To Me,” alongside a music video for the track. The song previews the singer’s forthcoming solo album, Right Place, Wrong Person, out May 24.

RM first revealed “Come Back To Me” last summer with a surprise performance at BTS bandmate Suga’s encore concert in Seoul. At the time, he introduced the track as one of his favorites from his new project despite not yet having a title. RM wrote the lyrics for the song, while OHHYUK from South Korean band HYUKOH composed and arranged the track and Kuo from Taiwanese band Sunset Rollercoaster contributed guitar and bass. Singer-songwriter JNKYRD and San Yawn from Balming Tiger are also credited.

The song’s music video was written, directed, and produced by Lee Sung Jin, who helmed Netflix show Beef. It stars Kim Minha, known for her role in the Apple TV+ show Pachinko.

A press release notes, “Through ‘Come Back To Me,’ RM explores the central theme of the new album, ‘right and wrong,’ delving into the paradoxical desire to venture into new territories while longing to remain content in the present.”

Right Place, Wrong Person features 11 tracks and marks RM’s second solo effort. The press release describes it as exploring “relatable sensations and moments of feeling like a stranger, out of place.” The album follows his December 2022 album Indigo, which featured standouts such as “Wild Flower” with Youjeen, “Still Life” with Anderson .Paak, and “Yun” with Erykah Badu. He also dropped a 7-track mini-album back in 2018.

RM and his BTS bandmates are currently completing their required military service in South Korea and are expected to reunite in 2025. “What I’m thinking right now is, these days, when I’m doing my solo projects, is, this is just like a vacation to get back to where I was, which was BTS and ARMY,” RM said in August 2023.

Last month, BTS announced an anti-bullying campaign with UNICEF. “Now, more than ever, we must try to remember who we are and face who we are,” RM said in a video announcing the partnership. “We must try to love ourselves and imagine the future.”
