American Idol alum, Kellie Pickler is begging for the legal battle with her in-laws to be sealed by the courts. They are currently embroiled in a battle for his property and she does not want the deposition to go public. So, what exactly is Kellie asking? Keep reading for further details.
Kellie Pickler Begs For In-Law Battle To Be Sealed
It has been nearly two years since Kellie Pickler’s husband, Kyle Jacobs passed away. For Kellie and his family, it was a horrible time and it has not been easy moving on. Now, there is a battle for his property as Kellie filed a court case. She is leaving it up to a judge to decide who has the rights to her late husband’s possessions. Obviously, there are pieces both parties want but having the court system divide and conquer will make it far easier for everyone involved.
Kellie and Kyle were married for twelve years before he took his own life. This was traumatic and she refused to be the administrator of his estate. Therefore, his parents, Reed and Sharon Jacobs were given the position. Unfortunately, things have not gone so smoothly as Kellie told the court that a “dispute has arisen amongst the parties regarding certain personal property allegedly [Kyle’s] possession prior to his death.” His parents allegedly sent Kellie a list of Kyle’s assets and demanded she turn them over. Per the DWTS winner’s attorney:
“Included in the List of Assets are items that [Kellie] either does not have in her possession or over which right, title and possession are disputed.”
Some of these items included a Steinway Grand Model M piano plus a gun collection, swords, luxury watches, as well as his business laptop, cell phone, and hard drives. According to In Touch Weekly, Kellie Pickler will be filmed as she is deposed but wants the transcript to be sealed. As of now, no one can use the transcript to their benefit until further notice but it is still up in the air. A final decision has yet to be made.
Was There A Prenup?
In the event of anything happening with the marriage, Kellie Pickler and Kyle Jacobs did have a prenup. His parents had it so they were ready to go when it came to gathering his possessions. Kellie did sell the Nashville home she had shared with Kyle in May 2024. She accepted a lesser offer of $2.6 million though it was listed for $2.89 million. However, Kyle’s parents allegedly took items from the home without Kellie knowing. That has led to a lot of this drama as she wants to know what was taken.
