Kesha Celebrates ‘Tik Tok’ Having Its ‘Best Streaming Day’ Ever

What a good omen for Kesha‘s 2025! The pop star opened the 2010s decade by having the Number One song in the country with her catchy single “Tik Tok.” And on Jan. 1, 2025, after performing the song on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve to ring in the year, Keska’s song earned its most streams ever on Spotify.

“It was 15 years ago that I got my first #1 song! YALL did that,” Kesha wrote on X, sharing the statistic that the song earned nearly 2,000,000 streams on the platform on Wednesday. “And the fact that [Tik Tok] had its biggest streaming day EVER yesterday blows my mind.”

“Thank you for supporting my art yall give me purpose,” she added. “This song is for the wild ones, the party girls, the ones who go too hard and laugh too loud and say too much. I love u thank you animals!!!”

Kesha ended her note: “Now Alexa play TikTok LOUDER PLEASE.”

“Tik Tok,” which was first released in August 2009, landed at the top spot of the Hot 100 the first week of January 2010, making it the first hit of that decade. The song spent nine weeks on top of the chart, and was certified 12 times platinum by the RIAA.

During Rockin’ Eve, Kesha also performed her 2024 single “Joyride,” which precedes her upcoming 2025 album, which she’ll drop under her own Kesha Records, which she launched last year.

Over 2024, Kesha has been performing “Tik Tok” on the road with a modified lyric: “Wake up in the mornin’ like ‘Fuck P Diddy’” instead of “Wake up in the mornin’ feelin’ like P Diddy,” because of the multiple sexual abuse allegations against the musician.

Kesha first replaced the lyric while performing with Reneé Rapp at Coachella last year. In August, as she celebrated the song’s 15-year anniversary, she revealed that she planned to re-record the song with that lyric. “I absolutely love the new lyric change,” she wrote on Instagram. “Yes, it is permanent. ⁣I will re-record it when I have legal rights to!”
