The View panelist, Sunny Hostin has a career based on saying her opinion and standing up for issues she believes in. When her husband, Manny Hostin, was named in a lawsuit by American Transit, they retained lawyers immediately. However, Sunny was baffled by the public backlash. Now she is clapping back.
Sunny Hostin Hits Back After Family Targeted In ‘Smear Campaign’
Undoubtedly, The View host gets passionate about any topic she cares about. So when it comes to the people she loves most, she is setting the record straight. According to Page Six, she acknowledges the lawsuit with American Transit, but says, they are an “insurance company on the verge of bankruptcy.”
Additionally, she adds that they have “filed a frivolous civil lawsuit against my husband.” Along with 200 other doctors, Sunny says they were making “a desperate attempt to avoid paying for medical and surgical procedures for people it insured who were in pain.” Additionally, she asserts, “This company has a history of filing frivolous claims, has been investigated by New York State, and has been sued by Uber Technologies.” Furthermore, she accuses American Transit saying they “used my celebrity status to start a disgusting media smear campaign against my husband, which included me and our children. They plastered pictures of our family all over tabloid publications.”
Not Backing Down
But The View co-host, Sunny Hostin will not back down. She continued, “American Transit is harassing me and my family in a frantic attempt to not pay its bills. Our family will not be intimidated and harassed. We remain unbowed.” They are buckling up for the long haul to fight the insurance company.
Sunny shares one plan of attack, “I have retained Mark Geragos as our attorney. My husband is also represented by Daniel Thwaites of Thwaites, Lundgren & D’Arcy.” Additionally, Sunny’s lawyers have notified American Transit of a countercase if they don’t withdraw the case and issue an apology. Likewise, Sunny adds, “[We] will file a five-million-dollar counter lawsuit for their defamatory claims, an amount that is likely to increase as the reputational damage that American Transit has intentionally caused is difficult to quantify at this time.” But money isn’t her only objective for repentance. She continues, “Further, we demand that they withdraw these false allegations, pay my husband what he is owed, and issue a public apology.”
Sunny Hostin Is Angry After ‘Campaign’
But Sunny Hostin is beyond pissed off that American Transit has drug her family through a “smear campaign.” Unmistakably, she wants there to be consequences for their actions. She states that companies like them are the reason “an already broken healthcare system” is “nearly impossible” to navigate. Likewise, she adds that ploys like these keep Americans from getting “good healthcare by engaging in despicable tactics like harassing doctors.” Then, she threatens, “Let me be clear, where I come from, American Transit will receive a PhD from FAFO University.”
