One of Stephen King’s favorite movies in recent years has been released into theaters this week, while one of the most popular theatrical releases of 2025 so far has made its way home. And that’s just the beginning of a week packed with ELEVEN new horror releases.

After scaring up $30 million at the box office worldwide, the Valentine’s Day-themed slasher movie Heart Eyes is now available on Digital at home courtesy of Sony.
Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within, Scare Me) directed Heart Eyes, with Mason Gooding (Scream) and Olivia Holt (“Cruel Summer”) starring in the romantic slasher.
You can rent the film on Digital outlets now for $19.99 or purchase it for $24.99. We’ve also learned that Heart Eyes will be slashing into DVD & Blu-ray on April 15.

The new horror movie from Screen Gems and Spyglass (Scream, Scream VI, Thanksgiving) features a screenplay written by Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) and Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) & Michael Kennedy (Freaky).
Gigi Zumbado (The Real Bros of Simi Valley) and Michaela Watkins (“Dinner with the Parents”) also star in Heart Eyes, with the cast also including Devon Sawa (Final Destination, “Chucky”) and Jordana Brewster (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning).
Charlie is ready to take the stage in the SCREAMBOX horror comedy film Cannibal Comedian from writer/director Sean Haitz (Big Top Evil, Mangrove Slasher 2, AREA 5150).
A blend of laughs and terrifying thrills, the film is now streaming on SCREAMBOX.
Written and directed by Sean Haitz (Big Top Evil), Cannibal Comedian tells the story of a psychopathic cannibal who is fed up with his lack of ambition and takes a stab at stand-up comedy in an attempt to chase both his dreams and his victims.
The film stars Aaron Prager (Haunted House of Pancakes), Austin Judd (Big Top Evil), and Robert Dunne (Criminal Minds) with appearances from horror veterans Allen Danziger and Edwin Neal, best known for their iconic roles in Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Their involvement adds a nostalgic treat for horror fans.
Promising “an adrenaline-fueled ride combining intense action with futuristic terror,” Uncork’d Entertainment brought Armed to Digital and On Demand platforms on Tuesday.
In Armed, “A group of veteran marines steal a shipment of weapons from the military only to find a cold war era robot that hunts them down, determined to complete its mission.
“Nothing can stop this deadly killing machine.”
Neil Mackay (Death Hunt) directed Armed, written by Terry McDonald. The film’s cast includes Omar Tucci, Rick Amsbury, Mason Cromwell, and Greg Johnston.

Writer/director/producer Michael Varrati goes meta with There’s a Zombie Outside, and Gravitas Ventures unleashed the film onto VOD outlets this past Tuesday.
There’s a Zombie Outside stars Ben Baur, Phylicia Wissa, Danny Plotner, Ty Chen, Francisco Chacin, William Lott, Tiffany Shepis, and Peaches Christ.
“Having once found solace in art, a man whose identity is intertwined with cult cinema soon begins to have issues distinguishing fact from fiction when he believes he’s seeing a monster from his movies for real, leading him to question the very foundations of reality…and himself.”
Meagan Navarro wrote in her Popcorn Frights mini review last August, “There’s a Zombie Outside stacks the horror side of the equation full of notable stalwarts, including Tiffany Shepis as Officer Findlay, Peaches Christ, and the voices of Lori Cardille (George Romero’s Day of the Dead) and Elizabeth Coffey (John Waters’ Pink Flamingos and Female Trouble). The stalking zombie is also appropriately great, with a particular make out scene that makes you eager to see the original cult feature nestled within the overarching meta-story.”
“But There’s a Zombie Outside, for all its dizzying bending of reality, is less a horror movie and more an inward meditation on identity,” Meagan’s review continues.
Suit up, press start, and kick putt with Gothic Slayers. Blending slacker comedy, horror, and adventure with ’90s inspiration and arcade motifs, the film is now available on VOD.
In Gothic Slayers, two putt-putt employees and best friends must face off against a demonic cult that has not only kidnapped their friend but also threatens to destroy their hometown.
Caleb Harris makes his feature directorial debut on the indie film from a script by Ben Getz and Dylan Eshbaugh. Getz and Eshbaugh star with Samantha Rothermel, Piper Verbrick, Quinn Hemphill, Jamie Day, Jayson Bernard, David Andrew Morton, Sully Brown, Daniel Yaiullo, and Melanie Rosedale.

Edward Furlong helped save humanity in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and now he has to do it again in Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep. Based on H.P. Lovecraft‘s 1919 short story “Beyond the Wall of Sleep,” the cosmic horror film hit VOD this week.
It’s the third Lovecraft adaptation from writer-director Chad Ferrin, following 2020’s The Deep Ones and 2024’s The Old Ones.
Renowned oneirologist Ambrose London is summoned to Arkham Asylum to investigate a bizarre split-personality case involving a patient seemingly possessed by a 122-year-old colonial peasant. What begins as a psychological study soon descends into unimaginable terror when London’s Dream Machine unleashes an alien life form intent on world annihilation.
Bai Ling (The Crow), Ginger Lynn (The Devil’s Rejects), Robert Miano (Donnie Brasco), Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), Steve Railsback (Lifeforce), and Cyril O’Reilly (Porky’s) round out the cast. The film features practical effects by Joe Castro (Campfire Tales).
Praised by Stephen King as “one of the best movies I’ve seen this year,” The Rule of Jenny Pen was released in theaters today from IFC Films and will stream on Shudder later this year.
Geoffrey Rush stars as a former judge, confined to a secluded rest home and trapped within his stroke-ridden body, who must stop an elderly psychopath, played by John Lithgow, who employs a child’s puppet to abuse the home’s residents with deadly consequences.
George Henare, Nathaniel Lees, Thomas Sainbury, and Ian Mune round out the cast.
The New Zealand production was directed by James Ashcroft from a script he co-wrote with Eli Kent, based on the short story of the same name by Owen Marshall. The three creatives previously collaborated on Coming Home in the Dark.
The producer of films including Searching and Unfriended, Timur Bekmambetov returns to screenlife horror with Bloat, which came to select theaters and digital today.
In Lionsgate’s Bloat, “After a near-death drowning accident, a young boy’s family is horrified to discover he has become possessed by a legendary demon from the depths of the lake.
“As the family races against time to save the boy’s soul, the evil monster inside the child tears the family apart as it seeks to destroy everyone in its path.”
The demon in question? The frog-like Kappa from Japanese folklore.
Ben McKenzie (“Gotham”) and Bojana Novakovic (Devil) star with Malcolm Fuller, Sawyer Jones (Antlers), and Kane Kosugi (Godzilla: Final Wars).
Writer-director Pablo Absento makes her feature debut on the film.
Director Paul W.S. Anderson (Event Horizon, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter) is back with In the Lost Lands, an adaptation of “Game of Thrones” creator George R.R. Martin’s short story. Milla Jovovich and Dave Bautista star, and it’s now playing in theaters.
In the film, “A Queen sends the powerful and feared sorceress Gray Alys to the ghostly wilderness of the Lost Lands in search of a magical power, where the sorceress and her guide, the drifter Boyce, must outwit and outfight man and demon.”
Paul W.S. Anderson co-wrote the script with Constantin Werner.
On his personal blog last year, George R.R. Martin called director Paul W.S Anderson’s new film adaptation of his story “dark and twisted and atmospheric, and a lot of fun.”
“In the Lost Lands was one of my earliest fantasies, first published in 1982 in the anthology AMAZONS II,” George R.R. Martin also notes in the same blog post for additional context.
An adaptation of a supernatural J.M. Barrie (Peter Pan) tale, The Island Between Tides was released here in the U.S. on VOD under the title The Lost Daughter today.
Based on legendary Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie’s gothic bedtime tale titled “Mary Rose,” feature film The Island Between Tides takes place in the coastal wilds of the Alaskan border.
In the film from directors Austin Andrews and Andrew Holmes, “Lily (Paloma Kwiatkowski) follows a mysterious melody onto a remote tidal island. When she crosses back over at the next low tide, she emerges into a world where decades have passed.”
The cast includes Donal Logue (Zodiac, Blade) and Adam Beach (The Power of the Dog), with Paloma Kwiatkowski, David Mazouz, and Camille Sullivan also starring.
J.M. Barrie’s Mary Rose originally took to the stage as a play back in 1920. Famously, Alfred Hitchcock had wanted to turn the play into a film, which never ended up happening.
Inspired by a concept from master of horror Clive Barker, the animated family film Night of the Zoopocalypse escaped into theaters from Viva Pictures beginning today.
