When I’m not walking the corgis while listening to an audiobook, I’m in the kitchen working on my latest recipe hyper fixation. Recently, I’ve been very vegetable focused, trying out new ways to cook everything from carrots to radishes to brussels sprouts. I’ve rarely met a vegetable that I didn’t like, but I always love to discover a new-to-me way to cook them.

The moment I saw The Modern Mountain Cookbook, I knew it was a book for me. Brandenburg shares dozens of delicious vegan recipes that celebrate Appalachian cuisine. She centers her recipes on quality ingredients handled with care, teasing out every last morsel of flavor. The recipes are easy to follow and delicious. I know I’ll be returning to this cookbook again and again. As a bonus, it is packaged with a colorful cover and adorable endpapers, it’s a beautiful book.
Pakistan: Recipes and Stories from Home Kitchens, Restaurants, and Roadside Stands by Maryam Jillani
With its multifaceted, textured cover and colored edges, Pakistan is a breathtaking object. The photos inside are stunning.
Maryam Jillani presents recipes from the country’s many cuisines in a way that home cooks of any skill level can create. Her dishes include Spiced Chicken Dumplings, Lentil Fritters in Yogurt, Tangy Potato Curry, Slow-Cooked Lamb, Saffron-Infused Flatbread, and Parsi Wedding Custard, among others.

Few things bring me joy like a plate of warm rice and lentils. They are delicious, filling, and so good for you. So Dal Chawal is a dream. Sapna Punjabi is a registered dietitian and uses her experience to craft her recipes. She has dozens of recipes of different kinds of dal. This cookbook is full of beautiful photos, making it a gorgeous addition to your cookbook collection.
