Love, Obsession & High School Revenge in ‘Swimfan’ [The Lady Killers Podcast]

The old adage tells us that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Director John Polson adds age to this equation, asking if anything can be scarier than a teenage girl in love. His 2002 erotic thriller Swimfan places Adrian Lyne’s Fatal Attraction within the walls of a modern high school and asks us to sympathize with a reckless young man. 

Ben Cronin (Jesse Bradford) is the star of his high school swim team anticipating a scholarship to Stanford and maybe a spot on the Olympic team. But as he’s preparing for an important meet, a new student splashes into his life. Wealthy and sophisticated, Madison (Erika Christensen) sets her sights on Ben and orchestrates a one night stand. When Ben chooses to stay with his girlfriend Amy (Shiri Appleby), Madison decides to win his heart no matter what it takes.
