October 12 feels way too far away.
I fell in love with Matlock last year when I finally gave up my resistance to yet another reboot and checked it out, and now I can’t wait for it to return.
Matlock Season 2 spoilers have me even more excited. Big cases and big fallout from the Wellbrexa reveal mean the new season could be even better than the last.

Matlock Season 2 Will Explore Olympia’s Divided Loyalties
If you were hoping she’d ignore Julian’s pleas during the Matlock Season 1 finale, you’ll be disappointed, because Matlock Season 2 Episode 1 spoilers say that Olympia will try to cover up Julian’s involvement with the Welbrexa documents.
Why, Olympia, why?
I know she has two children with this man, but her loyalty to him always irks me.
She’s always been expendable, unless he needs something; moreover, this decision goes against all her ethics.
I had been hoping that before Olympia made partner, Matlock Season 2 would be about Matty and Olympia starting their own firm dedicated to going after big, unethical corporations.
That seemed to fit both of their characters, and God knows we could use stories where the little guys win against huge businesses right now.

Of course, Olympia has always been the kind of character that’s hard to figure out.
Sometimes she’s compassionate and justice-oriented, and other times she’s just as much out for herself as anyone else at Jacobson Moore.
This Poor Decision Will Bring The Drama Even If I Don’t Like It
Olympia’s going to have a hard time keeping quiet about this.

She’ll have to hide it from everyone, especially Matty, which will make her paranoid… and we already know what Olympia turns into when she’s anxious.

Matty Has A New Family Drama — Alfie’s Biological Dad (If That’s Who He Really Is)
Alfie is everything to Matty. She filed for full custody of him shortly before Ellie’s death because she wanted to protect him from his mother’s drug use, and now he’s all she has left of Ellie.
Getting answers about Wellbrexa was never going to change any of that.
Ellie will always be gone, and Matty will always want to try to make amends that can’t be made by raising Alfie well (when she’s not roping him into investigations)
That’s why continuing the story about Alfie’s father is such a strong choice.
This was an inevitable storyline. Even though Matty and Edwin have been raising Alfie for years, his father was bound to pop up after Matty learned he was alive.
Matlock Season 2, Episode 1 will kick things off by having Matty begin to investigate whether Alfie’s father is who he claims to be.

It seems unlikely that a random guy would claim to be Alfie’s father all these years later, but people who have drug problems don’t always make the best decisions.
This could be an elaborate scam… or it could be that Matty just doesn’t want to believe that this man is Alfie’s father.
Who else is super excited for Matlock’s Season 2 premiere?
Say hi in the comments, and make sure you share this article with your Matlock-obsessed friends so they can join in too.
I can’t blame her for that. She and Edwin have taken care of Alfie for most of his life.
Edwin will likely think Matty is deluding herself. There’s a reason he kept his contact with the man secret in the first place.

I’m curious about how this conflict will play into Edwin and Matty’s already fragile relationship.
Edwin doesn’t want Matty to continue working, especially if she’s going to put herself in danger or confront powerful people, and it’s not in Matty’s nature to be able to stop.
That already means big trouble ahead, and if they can’t see eye to eye on Alfie’s dad, that’ll make the rift between them even worse.
Matlock Season 2 Episode 1 Spoilers Also Promise A Big Case, But How Will Anyone Concentrate?
Matty’s attention is going to be seriously split because of the Alfie stuff, and if she also picks up on Olympia and Julian hiding something, she’s going to want to know what it is.
She’s far from the only one who has too much going on, though. Olympia won’t be able to concentrate either with this big secret hanging over her head.
I won’t be surprised if she changes her mind about keeping this secret by the end of the premiere. That would take Matlock Season 2 in an interesting new direction, one that is a lot more original than trying to keep this secret all season long.

The Case Is About Arson…
…which could be interesting. I always love it when Matlock takes on these cases that other law shows don’t want to touch.
Oddly, there are very few Matlock Season 2 Episode 1 spoilers about the case itself, and none at all about Sarah and Billy.
From spoiler photos, it doesn’t look like Sarah learned anything from having a tooth knocked out during the finale. She probably went to the dentist over the summer break and will be back to acting superior.
In any event, it looks like an interesting season ahead to me, but what are your thoughts?
