Executive produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, this three-part pop culture and historical docuseries confronts and reclaims the Wild West. It reveals the story of the Black cowboy — a history that has been stolen, erased, and left untold.
Featuring original interviews with Jordan Peele, Tina Knowles, Glynn Turman, Pam Grier, The Compton Cowboys, Rick Ross, and Bun B, paired with archival footage, photographs, and an original score by Raphael Saadiq, this series sets the record straight on the American Frontier. It rides into the forgotten corners of history, shattering myths and celebrating the Black cowboys, farmers, jockeys, musicians, and rodeo champions who built the West — and now reclaim their place in the saddle, sitting high atop the horse.
Keith McQuirter (By Whatever Means Necessary: The Godfather of Harlem) is the showrunner, director and executive producer of Peacock’s High Horse: The Black Cowboy.
