Alice Wong, a trailblazing author and disability rights activist, passed away on Friday, November 14, from an infection.
The books Wong wrote and edited, such as Year of the Tiger: An Activist’s Life, Disability Intimacy, and Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century, detail the lived experiences of disabled people, and even how Wong herself transformed her righteous rage from being bullied and discriminated against into fuel for advocacy.
In 2014, Wong founded Disability Visibility Project, and just last year, she was named a MacArthur Genius Fellow.
