Before he was President, Donald Trump lived a very different life. He grew up in Queens, New York, and found success as a real estate investor. After making a small fortune, he turned to reality TV to spread the wealth. He gave up hosting The Apprentice when he ran for President in 2015. But now, there are rumors of a reboot with another famous family member as host and mentor. Keep reading for all the details on a possible return of the popular reality show.
Major Movie Star Flopped As Apprentice Host
Donald Trump was the host of The Apprentice from its premiere in 2004 until 2015, when he began a campaign for President. While he announced the decision in February of that year, NBC cut ties with him a few months later after his comments about immigrants in a campaign speech.

However, the show didn’t end when Trump left. It continued for one failed season. 1980’s action movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger successfully served two terms as Governor of California. But he couldn’t bring in ratings as a replacement host following Trump’s exit.
In addition to the regular series, a celebrity version ran for several seasons. The first season of Celebrity Apprentice included Stephen Baldwin, Gene Simmons, and Trace Adkins, all of whom continue to support his Presidency.
The Apprentice Reboot Allegedly In The Works
The Apprentice was a huge ratings success when Trump was the host. The show was canceled in 2017 after one season with the Terminator actor as host. Amazon Prime Video owns the rights to the reality show after acquiring it through the purchase of MGM.

The first two seasons of the regular Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice are available to stream for free on Prime Video. The other seasons require an Amazon Prime subscription to watch.
The Wall Street Journal reported at the end of April that Amazon Prime was exploring a reboot of the reality competition. Furthermore, they were eyeing Donald Trump Jr. to replace his father as host. Three of President Trump’s children – Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka – served as boardroom advisors on The Apprentice. Tiffany Trump also made appearances on the reality show.
But WSJ may have jumped the gun when reporting the reboot rumors. A source with Amazon told PEOPLE magazine that the rumors were “purely speculative” and they weren’t actively working on a reboot.
President Trump Reacts To Rumors
The rumors that he was in consideration for replacing his father as host was news to Don Trump Jr. However, his dad had a surprising reaction to the idea.

“Well, I’ve been hearing it. So we’ll see what happens. He’s good. He’s a good guy. He’s probably good. He’s got a little charisma going,” he said about the possibility of an Apprentice reboot hosted by his oldest child.
The idea received mixed reactions on social media. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story. Tell us in the comments if you would watch the reboot.
