Why Blake Shelton Missed Gwen Stefani’s Sphere Opening

Blake Shelton had a pretty understandable complaint this week — especially if you’re married to Gwen Stefani.

The country star revealed he was forced to miss No Doubt’s big Sphere opening in Las Vegas because he was booked to perform his own shows at the exact same time.

And yes, he definitely had jokes about it.

    Blake Missed Gwen’s Big Premiere

While performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Shelton told the crowd he was frustrated he couldn’t be there for Stefani’s first No Doubt residency show at the Sphere.

“My wife came to town,” Shelton said, according to video obtained by TMZ. “She’s here. I mean, she’s not here. She’s over there at another venue.”

Shelton then jokingly blamed the scheduling conflict on his own team.

“What kind of a di–head books us the exact same nights every single night?” he joked. “I think my manager did that. He’s here, isn’t he? Sorry, Narvel.”

Shelton is managed by Starstruck Entertainment, which is owned by Narvel Blackstock — Reba McEntire’s ex-husband and the father of the late Brandon Blackstock.

    Competing Vegas Shows

No Doubt’s Sphere residency marks the band’s first extended run of shows in nearly 14 years and is scheduled to continue through June 13.

Meanwhile, Shelton is also in the middle of his own Vegas performances, which run through the end of the month.

So, while both stars are technically in Las Vegas at the same time, they’re spending much of it on separate stages.

    Blake and Gwen’s Relationship

Shelton and Stefani first got together in 2015 after both went through highly publicized breakups. Shelton had recently divorced Miranda Lambert, while Stefani split from Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.

The two The Voice coaches married in July 2021 and have continued working together professionally over the years.

The couple are also currently collaborating on a TV adaptation of The Wizard of Oz called Dorothy.

Blake Shelton + Gwen Stefani: A Timeline of Their Love

From an unlikely, cross-genre pairing to one of country music’s hottest “it” couples, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have been on quite the journey together since they first met back in 2014 on the set of The Voice. Here is a look back at their fairy tale love story in pictures.
