Jenna Bush Hager has shared multiple stories of her growing up in a political family over the years. In a recent share, Jenna opened up about dating during her younger years. However, she noted that one date got her in trouble in an unexpected way.
Jenna Bush Hager & Sheinelle Jones Talked About Their First Cars On Today
Jenna is the daughter of former U.S. President George W. Bush, and her paternal grandfather is former U.S. President George H.W. Bush. In her professional life, she has established herself as a broadcast journalist, known for her work with Today, especially its fourth hour, which she currently hosts with Sheinelle Jones.
In her personal life, Jenna is also married to Henry Hager. The two were married in 2008 and they share three children together, including two daughters and a son.

However, Jenna admitted that her love life used to be a bit more complicated even back before she was a First Daughter. During a conversation with Sheinelle Jones, in which they talked about their first cars, Jenna noted that her parents banned her and her twin sister, Barbara, from “car dates” back in their high school days.
Looking back, Jenna mused, “For just a minute, they said, ‘No car dates.’ And then, I went to the football game with a boy. [It was] freshman year, like, right away. 15, right in. But I didn’t drive with him. I got dropped off to meet him. But then, I got in his car to go around — I don’t really remember. Maybe we were bored at the game, and we were gonna go get a bite to eat.”
Sheinelle Felt That What Happened Was Like ‘Something Out Of A Movie’
However, things took an unexpected turn when Jenna randomly bumped into her family, even on a drive. She shared, “I got in the car, and I looked over at the red light, and my mom [Laura Bush] was sitting with my godmother and my godfather. And they just rolled down the window and go, ‘Busted!’ and rolled it back up.”
Jones shared, “That is like something out of a movie.” Her co-host explained there was a reason for this: “Austin used to be that type of town. They were, like, going out to dinner. It was, like, seven o’clock. And they rolled down the window, and I was like, ‘Oh, no!’”

Jenna was 19 years old when her father started his first term as the president of the United States. Initially going to high school in Austin, Texas, she later attended the University of Texas at Austin.
Despite all of this, Jenna has made good use of her time as a First Daughter as well as growing up in Austin. In addition to sharing these stories on Today, she also used this as the inspiration for her upcoming NBC series, Line of Fire, of which she serves as an executive producer.
