The Flaming Lips have once again declared war on those evil machines as the band has announced a massive 20th-anniversary reissue for Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.
Due out Nov. 25, the 6CD box set boasts the 2002 LP alongside a copious amount of demos, b-sides, EPs, remixes, radio sessions, and live recordings from the era, over 50 of which have never been officially released.
Among the highlights from the 100-track collection are a pair of demos that mark the dawning of the LP’s surprise hit “Do You Realize??,” two full radio concerts recorded around the time of Yoshimi’s release, plus the unreleased 25-minute demo “Psychedelic Hypnotist Daydream”; the latter will be released as a standalone vinyl in 2023.
A 5-LP vinyl version of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots: 20th Anniversary Edition, parred down to 56 songs, will arrive on Apr. 23, 2023; both editions are available to preorder now. Additionally, the Flaming Lips will celebrate Yoshimi on the road in 2023 with (so far) two full-album performances, set for London and Washington, D.C., in Apr. and May 2023, respectively.
