“There’s an artist that I’ve just loved for my entire life, and she is just so remarkable in so many ways,” “Espresso” singer says of surprise guest
Sabrina Carpenter brought out guest Kacey Musgraves to cover the Nancy Sinatra hit “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’” during the “Espresso” singer’s set at the San Francisco area’s Outside Lands Festival.
“OK Bay Area, I have a surprise for you. Do you want it? “Well, I do have a surprise, and it’s honestly more for me than it is for you but I think you’ll enjoy it was well,” Carpenter asked the crowd prior to bringing out her guest.
“There’s an artist that I’ve just loved for my entire life, and she is just so remarkable in so many ways, and her voice has just taken me through so much of my life in so many pivotal moments and she means the world to me. And somehow she cleared her schedule to be here with us tonight.”
Musgraves — who performed the Nancy Sinatra cover nearly 100 times live at concerts between 2014 and 2016, but never since then — then emerged onstage for the duet, with the two singers trading verses and strutting around the stage.
“That was so cool,” Carpenter said after the performance after Musgraves exited. “That was like a dream.”
Carpenter’s new album Short n’ Sweet — featuring the hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” — arrives August 23, after which she’ll embark on a North American tour in support of the LP. The second leg of Musgraves’ tour in support of recent album Deeper Well begins September 4 in State College, Pennsylvania.
