SZA Teams Up With Ben Stiller for Wistful ‘Drive’ Video

The new song is the lead single off Lana, the deluxe version of SOS, set to release Friday

    SZA is back.

The R&B superstar released the music video for lead single “Drive,” starring Ben Stiller. The visual arrives ahead of the release of Lana, the deluxe edition of her smash album SOS. The signer took to social media to share that the project is now slated to drop the morning of Dec. 20.

Directed by Bradley J. Calder, the video sees Stiller wistfully lip-synching to the slow track while driving through the rain. At one point, he hangs out the window and then steps out of the car in the middle of the lonely, open road. As Stiller drives out of focus, the camera moves to the forest, where a bug-eyed SZA frolics in the grass while the lyrics of “Crybaby” are previewed in the background. The moment echoes Lana’s album cover that she recently shared on social media and her appearance on Hot Ones while disguised as a bug.

SZA previously teased Stiller’s appearance in the video earlier this week, sharing multiple clips of the video on her Instagram. Along with confirming her own album, she also plugged the release date for Season Two of Stiller’s Severance, of which she is a well-known fan.

Lana has been in the works since SOS first dropped in December 2022. The original album was one of the biggest records of the year.

“It was gonna be [‘SOS’] outtakes and some new songs, but it’s become more than I expected,” SZA told Variety last year of the new deluxe edition. “It was gonna be really soft, because I had made all my screaming points, and I just wanted to glide and not think [too much] and get out of my own head — I was so happy to say some shit that didn’t mean a fucking thing.”

SZA will be touring the new music throughout 2025 when she hits the road with her former TDE labelmate Kendrick Lamar for the Grand National tour starting next April. SZA was also featured on standout track “Luther” off of Lamar’s surprise album GNX.
