“Life is like an elevator. Up and down, just make sure you get off on the right floor”…Keith Douglas
“There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs”…Zig Ziglar
Based upon a true story, “The Elevator” Invites us on an emotional journey where we come to realize that home is not nearly a mark on a map. It is the place at the center of the compass and the force that forever draws us back. Under the direction of Mukesh Modi and Jack Cook who led superstar Oscar nominee Eric Roberts and beautiful model/actress Eugenia Kuzmina into the hours with grief, living where fear rules and where truth lies exposed like a wound. Hope hides and peace is for others and the minutes extend repeating that distress of the hour before the elevator nightmare unfolds.
The film accents on family values with more than a twist of intrigue and suspense. Kuzmina portrays the loving mom and wife preparing her daughter’s birthday party, while Roberts is the normal husband and dad who’s work often takes precedent over time spent with his family. When he suddenly becomes trapped in his office’s elevator on the way home to the party, he is forced to re-examine what is truly important. What happens next inspires the audience to realize that the future can never be completely known to us.
Roberts fear, frustration, anger and sorrow is vividly felt during his ordeal while Kuzmina’s emotional rollercoaster evokes a true empathy from the audience. Matt Rife plays the couple’s teenage son and does a remarkable job of being believable. The couple’s two little girls Avery Ilardi and Avery Morris are adorable..
