Margot Robbie Covers Vogue in a Cone-Bra Corset, Sheer Briefs,

For Vogue’s Summer 2023 issue, Margot Robbie is giving the people more of what they want to see — her Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” persona, which she fully embraces in vivid color and high-end designer pieces, and even without pants. The 32-year-old actress and founder of production company LuckyChap Entertainment was photographed by Ethan James Green for the Gabriella Karefa-Johnson-styled shoot, for which she slips into pink Versace dresses with floral appliqués and one trendy cone-bra corset; event-ready numbers from the likes of Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs, Christopher John Rogers, and Valentino; and hot pants from Norma Kamali and Miu Miu finished with Rollerblades — a nod to her character’s costumes in the film that will be released on July 21.

In the accompanying feature, Robbie opens up about the difficulties she experienced getting the project off the ground, her friendship with costar Ryan Gosling, as well as transitioning into her new role once the movie details were locked in. As far as the looks she wears, curated by costume designer Jacqueline Durran — some of which are certainly skin-revealing — Robbie describes her perspective: “I’m like, Okay, she’s a doll. She’s a plastic doll. She doesn’t have organs. If she doesn’t have organs, she doesn’t have reproductive organs. If she doesn’t have reproductive organs, would she even feel sexual desire? No, I don’t think she could. She is sexualized. But she should never be sexy. People can project sex onto her. Yes, she can wear a short skirt, but because it’s fun and pink. Not because she wanted you to see her butt.”

While Robbie acts as Barbie in a number of the Vogue photos (there’s cowgirl Barbie in Maison Margiela, politician Barbie in Chanel Haute Couture, and classic sunbathing Barbie in a polka-dot Norma Kamali suit), she also poses for plenty of pictures showing off her own wavy, highlighted blond hair and natural glow — and these looks feel less theatrical, but stylish all the same.
