The reality star and Skims founder wore a risqué Alaïa look to watch her close friend and former assistant Stephanie Shepherd say “I do” in Los Angeles on June 25. Kardashian began by slipping on a strappy cutout bodysuit that flashed her entire midriff and gave the illusion of a separate bandeau bra and underwear set. She then layered over a velvet and PVC maxi skirt with an open front that allowed her bodysuit to peek through on bottom. She finished the outfit with Manolo Blahnik “Barbie-foot heels” laced all the way up to her knees.

Kardashian’s Alaïa getup has drummed up plenty of social media chatter about what constitutes an “appropriate” outfit for wedding guests. Her younger sister Kendall Jenner received similar criticism for wearing a revealing diamond-cutout Mônot dress to friend Lauren Perez’s wedding in 2021. Months later, Jenner responded to the backlash by saying she “obvi” secured Perez’s outfit approval beforehand, effectively shutting down the haters. Perhaps Kardashian pulled the same move ahead of Shepherd’s nuptials?

Folks should hardly be surprised to see Kardashian confidently rocking such a bold look for a friend’s wedding. This is the same star who basically wore multiple stands of pearls fashioned as a dress to the 2023 Met Gala, designed faux leather thongkinis for her shapewear brand, and once wore a chainmail gown so tight, she couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs without assistance.
