On Friday, Taylor Swift got political on social media when she posted a message to her followers on her Instagram Story. The Midnights super star was encouraging people to vote in her hometown. The artist is originally from Nashville, and still votes in Tennessee.

Swift posted a shot of herself with an “I Voted Today” sticker. In the pic, she’s wearing a grey sweatshirt over a white t-shirt, and has on tortoise-rim sunglasses and a gold chain. Her hair is down in loose waves around her shoulders.

On the picture, Swift wrote, “Early voting for our city officials and some statewide seats began today. We have the opportunity to choose those who will represent us for the next four years. I voted today and I urge each and every one of you to do the same and make your voice heard.”

She also shared a link to the website helping people through the early voting period process.

In 2018, Swift also used Instagram to reach out to her followers about a seat in her state, endorsing Phil Bredesen over the Republican candidate Marsha Blackburn, who ultimately won.

“In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now,” she wrote at the time. “I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent.”

Swift added, “I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love.”
