Elizabeth Banks is used to being in front of the camera but for the huge likes of taking on a film titled Cocaine Bear, she stepped behind the camera and directed. While out doing press for the film, Banks expressed interest in the possibility of directing Cocaine Shark next… but only under a couple of conditions.
The question concerning Cocaine Shark began coming up after New Zealand police reported that they found 3.2 kilos of cocaine in the pacific ocean. Of course, if a shark was to get ahold of it, then the shark would either savagely kill or talk the ear off of Jason Statham about buying a boat. Who knows, but the idea is pretty hilarious.
Banks responded to the Cocaine Shark questions by stating that she would totally do it if the script was as good as the one that was prepared for Cocaine Bear. Banks has stepped behind the camera to direct in the past with both Charlies Angels and Pitch Pefect 2.
“I would seriously consider anything with a script as good as the script was for Cocaine Bear,” Banks said. “It’s got to have just some great elements.”
Banks definitely dug into all Cocaine Bear elements and judging from the trailer it is going to be a blast.
“As an actor, I love reading great character journeys and this was chock-full of really fun characters woven together really beautifully by Jimmy Warden’s script,” Banks said. “I really felt like there was so much that was very grounded and real but then set against the backdrop of a bear on a bender.”
Bear on a bender, eh? Sounds good to us! And why not a Shark on a rampage as well?
We can see that bear go on a bender when Cocaine Bear arrives in theaters beginning February 24.
