Lin Shaye of Insidious and A Nightmare on Elm Street fame is bringing her solo show to New York City. The show, Tripping on Life, will begin its previews on September 8 before its official opening night on Monday, September 18 at 6:30 PM. Director Robert Galinsky’s Tripping on Life will run through October 8, 2023 at Theatre Row, located at 410 West 42 Street.

Lin Shaye made her film debut in Joan Micklin Silver’s Hester Street (where she is simply credited as “whore,” I kid you not) before rising to prominence in the horror sphere following bit roles in the likes of A Nightmare on Elm Street and Critters. Shaye’s most monumental success is no doubt her role in Blumhouse’s Insidious franchise, where Shaye has remained a mainstay since the first (despite her character’s death at the conclusion of that film).

With her starring role in Insidious: The Last Key, Shaye earned the honor of headlining one of the best debuts for a movie starring a woman over 65 of all time. No small feat for one of the industry’s best.  Check out a synopsis for Tripping on Life here:

“Lin Shaye is known for her roles in such iconic films as Insidious, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Dumb & Dumber, Kingpin, and There’s Something About Mary, Shaye aims to mesmerize audiences with her unflinching portrayal of a woman’s life forever changed by a tumultuous event in 1968. Tripping on Life is a solo exploration of personal growth set against the backdrop of the vibrant and transformative 1960s. Known for its political outrage, artistic expression, and unconventional love, the era set the stage for a life-altering experience that shaped Lin’s journey up to the present day. Shaye shares her intimate story through her powerful performance, delving into the depths of emotion and resilience.”

Shaye is quoted as saying, “Bringing this show to NYC is a dream come true!” What do you think? Do you plan on checking the show out? Let me know over on Twitter @Chadiscollins and learn more about tickets below:
