Rooney Mara is a powerful force in pretty much anything she is added to. David Fincher’s Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was phenomenal and Mara made that character her own. However, prior to that film, Mara was part of the most notorious remakes of all time and it turns out that it wasn’t just a horrible experience for filmgoers.
Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street was one of horrors best moments ever. So, when it was remade in a very subpar manner, audiences took notice and it became one of the shittiest remakes to ever be remade. In a recent interview with Mara on LaunchLeft Podcast, it was revealed that the actress almost entirely quit acting due to the experience.
“I had done A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, which was not a good experience, I have to be careful with what I say and how I talk about it.” Mara told LaunchLeft Podcast. “It wasn’t the best experience making it and I got to this place, that I still live in, that I don’t want to act unless I’m doing stuff that I feel like I have to do. So after making that film, I decided, ‘OK, I’m just not going to act anymore unless it’s something that I feel that way about.’”
Well, whatever happened to Mara sounds awful. Her discretion about the grueling shoot is still very professional. So, I doubt that we will ever know the details of what occurred, but watching that terrible movie gives me enough evidence to know it must have been really, really bad.
