After we discovered images from the forthcoming horror film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, the internet broke. Fans all over the world expressed fascination, horror, disgust, and interest at the images portraying Winnie the Pooh and Piglet as barbaric murderers. In a matter of hours, countless other outlets picked up the story and Variety even reached out the the filmmaker for comment.

Chatting with Variety, filmmaker Rhys Waterfield expressed that the public response to the stills from Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is all “absolutely crazy.”

“Because of all the press and stuff, we’re just going to start expediting the edit and getting it through post production as fast as we can,” Waterfield continued. “But also, making sure it’s still good. It’s gonna be a high priority.”

Rhys Waterfield also answered fans on Facebook who were inquiring about the film’s release. When asked about the release date, Waterfield responded with ‘~Dec.’ I guess this means a December release date is currently on the slab. Watch out Santa, Pooh is coming to town.

Winnie-the-Pooh is a famous fictional teddy bear written by A.A Milne alongside and illustrated by E.H Shepard. Pooh would be turned into a household name in 1961 when Walt Disney Productions began making the character into a collection of films. Winnie the Pooh has gone on to become one of the worlds premiere children’s entertainment franchises. The character entered the public domain earlier this year.

While not much is known about this forthcoming horror film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, the images are giving off a very indie You’re Next vibe, including barnyard animal masks and a message in blood smeared across windows.
