Fetty Wap has been sentenced to six years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a drug conspiracy charge. He also has five years of supervision after his prison sentence ends. The six-year term is one year longer than the minimum sentence for the charge, according to The New York Times.
Fetty Wap was arrested in October of 2021 at Queens, New York’s Citi Field, where the rapper had been scheduled to perform as part of of Rolling Loud New York. He did not take the stage to perform that night, but instead was hit with a federal indictment that charged him with one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances. Five other men were also named in the indictment, each charged with one count of using firearms in connection with a drug trafficking crime.
The indictment, as well as a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, claimed that Fetty Wap and the five other men were alleged to have “distributed more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine across Long Island and New Jersey.” The press release also referred to Fetty Wap as “a kilogram-level redistributor for the trafficking organization.”
Shortly after his arrest, Fetty Wap was released on $500,000 bond, but he was later arrested and had his bond revoked after he allegedly displayed a gun and threatened to kill someone during a FaceTime call last year.
In August of last year, Fetty Wap pleaded guilty to one federal count of conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances. Before today’s ruling, the rapper faced a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum sentence of 40.
