Pack your bags and get ready for a trip, because Meet Me @ the Altar are about to take you away. On Friday, August 4th, the CoSign alums shared their cover of “Take Me Away,” the song from the beloved 2003 flick, Freaky Friday. Watch the visualizer for the single below.

Coming ahead of the deluxe version of their debut album Past // Present // Future, which is due on September 29th, the band’s take on “Take Me Away” demonstrates their energizing pop punk sound. With scratchy guitars, a healthy dosage of riffage, and a thrash-worthy chorus, the cover not only captures the ‘00s magic of the original Christina Vidal version from the movie, but illustrates how the song has continued to be a source of inspiration, even 20 years removed from its first release.

“Aside from it just being an absolutely iconic moment in pop culture, ‘Take Me Away,’ Pink Slip, and Freaky Friday as a whole had a lot of influence over us growing up,” the band said in a statement. “It’s everything we love all meshed into one — female representation in punk music, and on screen! Being able to pay homage to such an endless well of inspiration to us was really gratifying. It really takes you back to an era that I think we all miss.”

The cover arrives two weeks after the band shared a new single “Give It Up,” the first preview from the forthcoming deluxe Past // Present // Future. Their version of “Take Me Away” will appear on the album too. Pre-orders are ongoing.

Next week, the band will hit the road with 5 Seconds of Summer for a sprawling summer tour, after which they’ll stop by Columbia, Maryland for a set at All Things Go. Then, they’ll hop across the pond for headlining dates in Europe. Check out the full list of dates, and grab your tickets here.

Freaky Friday, meanwhile, is set to get sequel treatment. In May, news broke that the sequel is in the works at Disney, with both Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis set to return.
