Prince: The Immersive Experience will debut in Chicago on June 9. The exhibition will feature 10 rooms modeled on aspects of Prince lore, including a working reconstruction of Paisley Park’s Studio A, a walk-in recreation of the Purple Rain cover art, and “an audiovisual dance party designed by Prince’s lighting designer Roy Bennett,” according to a press release. The Prince Estate teamed with Superfly for the exhibition, which charges $39.50 entry. It is due to run until October 9.
The Prince Estate has recently been embroiled in a trademark dispute with Minneapolis funk mainstay (and longtime Prince associate) Morris Day, who claims the estate has barred him from continuing to operate under the name Morris Day and the Time. The estate issued a denial.
Meanwhile, the estate has allowed Jack White’s Third Man Records to release Prince’s shelved 1986 album, Camille. Next month, Alamo Drafthouse will screen a 4K restoration of Sign o’ the Times in theaters nationwide.
