The legendary composer Randy Edelman’s “A Ghostly Affair” debuted at NYC’s one and only Cutting Room in celebration of Halloween! His powerful and soul-stirring music was both haunting and inspirational.
Randy Edelman is a prolific composer of over 100 film scores and TV musical themes including excerpts from “My Cousin Vinny”, “While You Were Sleeping”, “The Bruce Lee Story”, “Gettysburg”, “Twins”, “Dragonheart”, “Billy Madison”, the theme from “MacGyver”, “Last of the Mohicans”, and other recognizable themes. The audience, of every age, recognized his extensive television and motion picture soundtracks as he played them expertly.
Randy’s romantic spirit blanketed the room as he performed his many famous pop songs. His music seems to evoke the depths and heights of human connection. The audience members responded to his well known “A Weekend in New England” as recorded by Barry Manilow, “Isn’t it a Shame” recorded by Patti LaBelle, “My Place”, recorded by hip-hop, superstar Nelly, the sensitive “You” recorded by The Carpenters and so many more recorded by Olivia Newton-John, Willy Nelson, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Bing Crosby, Dionne Warwick, and other musical stars.
Randy’s romantic and comedic sharing of tales with the audience added an intimacy to the performance that few musicians display. Randy gives the gift of his heart and soul not only through his music but his conversational style.
Randy ended his performance with a rousing version of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” (from Carousel). His performance of his newly released, “Everything is Possible” was captivating and inspirational for the underdogs of the world receiving great applause. In our world’s current climate this song was particularly meaningful. The world needs this message of hope now more than ever.
Randy’s upcoming film scores include Dutch director, Are De Jong’s Nashville Saga “Heart Strings”, the family holiday caper, “Athena Saves Christmas”, the exorcism horror themed “Possession of Anne” and the documentary “Too Hot to Handle.” His latest song “Everything is Possible” is being played on KISS FM and other radio stations throughout the nation. Randy is not only an exceptional gem of a musician but a philosopher spreading hope with his incredible music and lyrics.
