The Moldy Peaches Reunite, Announce First European Shows in 20

The Moldy Peaches are reuniting. In 2023, the beloved anti-folk group will perform its first European shows in 20 years. Only three concerts are scheduled so far: a show at London’s Roundhouse on May 29 and festival sets at Primavera Sound on June 2 and June 9 in Barcelona and Madrid, respectively.

“We’re excited to be back, older and moldier,” the band said in a statement. “Let’s see if we still got it! Once a Moldy Peach, always a Moldy Peach.”

This news comes on the heels of the Moldy Peaches’ appearance in Meet Me in the Bathroom, the documentary film chronicling the history of the New York music scene of the early 2000s. The movie is based on Lizzy Goodman’s 2017 book of the same name and features unearthed footage of the Moldy Peaches, as well as the Strokes, LCD Soundsystem, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and more.

The Moldy Peaches’ last tour took place in late 2003. The group went on a hiatus the following year and co-founders Adam Green and Kimya Dawson pursued solo careers. The duo has performed a handful of sets together since then, however, including a 2004 benefit for New York record store Accidental CDs, Records, and Tapes; an impromptu set at Los Angeles’ the Smell in 2007; the Juno film premiere; and a Knitting Factory show in New York in 2011.

In 2018, the Moldy Peaches reissued their self-titled debut album along with a bonus 7″. The band’s most recent releases were compilation albums: 2003’s Moldy Peaches 2000: Unreleased Cutz and Live Jamz and this year’s Origin Story 1994-1999.
