A Powerful Family Begins to Crumble in ‘The Fall of

It’s time. Those are the words repeated by Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) at the start of Netflix‘s new trailer for The Fall of the House of Usher, Mike Flanagan‘s latest horror foray.

Set to premiere on Thursday, October 12 (just in time for spooky season), the eight-episode limited wicked series is based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe and follows ruthless siblings, Roderick and Madeline Usher (Mary McDonnell) as they work to protect the Fortunato Pharmaceuticals empire of wealth, privilege, and power that they’ve built.

As Madeline says in the trailer, above during a family gathering, “[If] anyone comes after us, we will exhaust our arsenal until the threat is neutralized.”

“By neutralized, do you mean sued into oblivion on the streets?” Roderick’s eldest son Frederick (Henry Thomas) asks. Madeline has more finite plans though, clarifying, “Neutralized… like dead.”

Kate Siegel’s Camille L’Espanaye says, “You guys, we really should get together more often. It’s just a balm for the soul,” hinting at some family discord among the ranks. As if to prove this point, T’Nia Miller’s Victorine LaFourcade flashes the woman her middle finger.

“Roderick Usher, your family is a collection of stunted hearts,” Carla Gugino‘s Verna says in an ominous tone. When she meets young Prospero Usher (Sauriyan Sapkota), he asks who she is. Her response? “I’m consequence… and tonight is consequential.” What follows is a flurry of horrors as the Ushers are seemingly targeted by Verna.

Dying at the hands of this mysterious woman from Roderick and Madeline’s youth, the Usher dynasty and its heirs come under fire as past family secrets come to light.

Created by Flanagan, the trailer, above, brings back many of his past collaborators including Greenwood, Gugino, Siegel, Miller, Thomas, and Sapkota. Additionally, the cast features McDonnell, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Michael Trucco, Paola Nuñez, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney, and Robert Longstreet.

Don’t miss the spooky fun, above, and below, with the trailer and fresh photos teasing the season, and catch The Fall of the House of Usher when it drops on Netflix this October.
