Jimmy Kimmel Recaps Oscars, Adrian Brody’s Record-Setting Speech

After several years of hosting the Academy Awards, Jimmy Kimmel stepped back this year, leaving the stage to Conan O’Brien. But on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live the late-night host took the opportunity to share his thoughts on how it all went.

Kimmel explained that both the Oscars and an earthquake took place in Los Angeles on Sunday night, noting, “Due to the enormous amounts of Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Botox not a single body part jiggled here in Hollywood last night. There was no damage.”

The host continued, of the Oscars themselves, “Right now across the street Adrian Brody is just wrapping up his acceptance speech. Adrian Brody won Best Actor for his work in The Brutalist, which, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, he gave the longest acceptance speech in Oscars history. Even longer than that freeform poetry dram Will Smith did after karate slapping Chris Rock.”

Kimmel also commented on Kieran Culkin’s acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain, which saw the actor reminding his wife she had promised him another baby. “We have good news: Adrian Brody’s speech went on so long the Culkins were able to conceive and deliver a six-pound baby girl,” Kimmel quipped. “Her name’s Anora. Anora Culkin.”

Kimmel complimented O’Brien’s role as the Oscars’ host, joking that he did such a good job that next year the Oscars are “giving it to Jay Leno to host.”

Elsewhere in his monologue Kimmel reflected on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent visit to the White House, where he was berated by Donald Trump and JD Vance, and Vance’s subsequent trip to Vermont to go skiing. “This might have been Trump’s most mortifying moment yet,” Kimmel noted. “And this is a guy who suggested we inject bleach into our bodies.”

Later, Kimmel aired a segment from the Oscars red carpet featuring Guillermo taking shots of tequila with celebrities like Elle Fanning, Miles Teller, Bowen Yang, Brandi Carlile, and Jesse Eisenberg.
